It’s panto season - oh yes it is, with endless laugher
It’s the time of year when the whole family can enjoy and there are some treats in the Stirling area. Chick Whittington
Chick Whittington will be running at the arts centre from Friday, November 24 to Saturday, December 31.
Panto favourite Johnny McKnight will be taking to the stage for another panto extravaganza while also taking on the reins as director of the production.
The audience will be reminded of the Great Christmas Rat Race of 1967 which almost destroyed the pantosphere.
Now, however, Queen Rat is back with sharper teeth and a longer tail than before.
Step forward Chick Whittington – the granddaughter of the legendary Dick. Surely removing the streets of vermin will be as easy to her as it was her grandfather.
And surely her newlyinvented time machine could help save the day.
This is the tenth time Johnny has penned for the Stirling venue and he can’t wait for the audience to see the show.
A top cast of panto performers will include the return of Robert Jack as Slick Whittington, Helen McAlpine as the evil Queen Rat and Katie Barnett as inventor Alice Fitzwarren.
Making their first Macrobert appearances will be Emma Mullen as Chick Whittington and Euan Bennet playing a host of other characters.
Working with Johnny on the creative team are some of the key players behind last year’s acclaimed production of Weans in the Wood – Alan Penman as musical director, Karen Martin as choreographer, Grant Anderson as lighting designer and Alison Brown for costume and make-up design along with Kenneth MacLeod designing the set.
