Black and White bullocks (68) averaged 135.93p to 152.30ppk for a 453kg HFX from Whitehill, and to £780 for a 608kg HOX from Borland.

Heifers (370 averaged 204.93p to 251.80ppk for a 278kg CHX from Sorn Mains, and to £1240 for a 610kg LimX from Lilac Cottage.

Cast cows (213) averaged 119.79p to 191.60ppk for a LimX from Upper Spittalton and to £1410 for a LimX from Upper Spittalton.

Dairy cows (42) averaged 86.11p and to 113.00ppk for a HFX from Carneil, and to £895 for a HFX from Carneil.

Thursday, November 16 Caley Marts sold 202 cattle comprising 105 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls, six OTM cattle, and 91 cast cows and bulls.

Once again all classes of prime cattle bucked the deadweight trend, and were dearer on the week.

Bullocks averaged 226p; heifers 220p; OTM cattle 180p; young bulls 196p; beef cows 114p and dairy cows 96p.

Bullocks topped at 248p pkg for a Limousin from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn to J Johnston Butchers, Falkirk, and to £1719 for a British Blue from D McLaren, Classlochi­e, Kinross.

Heifers topped at 255p pkg again from Learielaw to T Johnston, and to £1660 for a Limousin from Brockwoodl­ees to Hugh A Black and Sons.

OTM cattle sold to 215p for a Limousin from J R MacGregor Ltd, Dyke, Milton of Campsie, to CM Kirkpatric­k, and to £1596 from Learielaw to Hugh A Black and Sons.

Young bulls to 220p pkg for a Limousin from J Burnett and Sons, Upper Spittalton, Thornhill to J F Finlay and Co, Wishaw and to £1597 for the same animal.

Also forward were 30 calves, both beef and dairy. Top price of the day was £290 for a Limousin Bull Calf from P Whyte, Wester Ochtermuth­ill. More could have been sold to sellers’advantage.

Monday, November 20 Caley Marts sold 1277 store lambs and feeding ewes. All classes of lambs, especially Blackface would be sharper on the week, with 1039 lambs selling to £68 for a pen of Texels from J Lambie, Knockdaw, Lendalfoot. Ewes a similar trade.

Tuesday, November 21 Caley Marts sold 2456 prime lambs, ewes and tups. A small show of sheep forward, would be slightly easier on the week, with the overall average 166.5ppkg (-4.1p on the week) with 1301 (39kg+) averaging £75.70 (-£1.58).

Top price of the day went to Doune Farms at £103 for a 59kg Beltex, top price per kg also went to Doune Farms for a 38kg Beltex at 211ppkg.
