Young performers will warm up for top act

- Albert Halls, Stirling

Talented young vocalists from Stirling performing arts school Stageworx are on the bill for theatre group Collabro’s show in the city this weekend.

Four-piece Collabro won Britain’s Got Talent in 2014 and they are now set to take to the stage at the Albert Halls on Friday night.

And warming up for the act, who are widely regarded as one of the world’s top theatre groups, will be young performers aged from eight to 16 from Stageworx – based at Millhall Industrial Estate.

Collabro members spoke about just how much they are looking forward to welcoming the stars of the future to the stage – with a different local group joining them on each night of their tour.

A statement from the group said: “We are so excited to be performing with 29 amazing children’s choirs from across the UK as part of our ‘Home’ Tour.

“As children, all four of us were members of local stage schools or choirs and the training and grounding it gave us certainly contributed to our journey into becoming Collabro.

“We’re really pleased they’re aboard our #CollabroChoirs project and we can’t wait to sing with them all.”

Also on the bill on Friday evening is classical singer Carly Paoli who has shared the stage with the legends such as Andrea Bocelli, Jose Carreras and Elaine Paige. She will be performing a selection of songs with Collabro in addition to pieces from her debut album Singing My Dreams which was released earlier this year.

She told the Observer: “I am looking forward to the tour. They [Collabro] are all of a similar age to myself and are superb singers. We were introduced in June at my album launch. They sing music that I love.”

Acclaimed UK singer-songwriter Philippa Hanna will also entertain the audience during a bumper evening of top live music. She is described as one of the most soughtafter acoustic performers in the UK and has opened tours for acts such as Lionel Richie, Anastacia and Leona Lewis.

Three years ago Collabro won Britain’s Got Talent with one of the biggest majorities ever and subsequently signed to Simon Cowell’s label Syco – becoming label mates with the likes of One Direction, Little Mix and Susan Boyle.

They have since released their debut album ‘Stars’ which reached number one and performed at the Royal Variety Show and twice on Britain’s Got Talent.
