A grit night out in Stirling - despite the snow

-

On Friday night my husband and I were in Stirling city centre for a meal before heading to the Albert Halls to see Collabro.

We parked the car in Glebe Crescent and decided to walk up to City Walls - and it took us all of our wiles to get there because of ungritted pavements.

Now, I know most of the Stirling area was hit by the snow on Friday afternoon and the roads were quickly cleared. But what about the pedestrians who had to struggle around?

I understand that the gritters have priorities but surely the city centre where people come to shop and for entertainment - should be well up the list of areas for gritting.

Thankfully we got to the concert in one piece - and it was a great night too!

Stirling Council may have identified a need for a crematorium but never had any intention of building one or finding a strategic location best suited to the whole area they administer.

Expediency is now the name of the game to the extent that they quickly relinquished their request to retain some of the Victorian fabric at Bannockburn Hospital.

Westerleigh is a commercial enterprise and is scouring the UK for business opportunities. Local people who have thought seriously about this know this site is not a quiet secluded rural location; it sits in an extremely busy hub. If planning consent is granted, Westerleigh face an open road and any conditions or so called protective measures won’t be worth the paper on which they are written.
