A Balfron yob who shouted and swore at a woman at a village address is to be assessed for a drug treatment order.

Adam Leishman, of Station Road, had also used racially offensive language during the incident at Kepculloch Road on June 16 this year.

And after police detained him the 38-year-old made sectarian remarks during a journey from Balfron to the police station

At Stirling Sheriff Court, Leishman had admitted two charges – one of acting in a racially aggravated manner, and the other of behaving in a threatenin­g and abusive manner aggravated by religious prejudice.

Leishman had caused alarm and distress to Kepculloch Road resident Kathleen Anderson on June 16 this year.

He had shouted, swore, acted in an aggressive manner, and used racially offensive language at the Kepculloch Road address.

Leishman had also behaved in a threatenin­g and abusive manner by shouting, swearing, acting in an aggressive manner, uttering abusive and uttering sectarian remarks towards police officers on the A811 road during the course of a journey within a marked police vehicle.

His not guilty plea to a third charge – of possessing cannabis resin at Falkirk Police Office on the same date – was accepted by the Crown.

When Leishman appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday, his agent told Sheriff Ross Macfarlane QC that her client had not long been in hospital for a nineday period on a detox programme.

Sheriff Macfarlane adjourned matters until January 10 for a Drug Treatment and Testing Order assessment.

Bail was continued meantime.
