Recruitment drive

- Robert Fairnie

Calling everyone interested in pursuing a career as a firefighter...

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) have launched a recruitment campaign which aims to invite applicants for new wholetime firefighter posts.

The campaign, which was launched on November 30 and runs until December 18, hopes to attract people from all backgrounds to consider a role in the SFRS.

Area Manager Roddie Keith, local senior officer for Stirling and Clackmannanshire, said:“The SFRS works for and with our communities and we believe that a workforce that reflects the communities we serve makes us more approachable and assists us in engaging fully with those who may need our support.

“For this reason, we are looking for the most diverse range of applicants possible. Being a firefighter is one of the most rewarding careers you can imagine and provides excitement and variety within a supportive team environment.

“The role of a firefighter has changed dramatically in the last decade and there is a greatly increased focus on engagement and prevention work as well as our emergency response.

“Being a firefighter is a physical job, however, just as important are qualities like common sense, commitment and enthusiasm.”
