Dad needed stitches after hitting face during fall

-

Residents in Torbrex are being warned to take care in the icy conditions after one resident sustained a nasty cut to his face after slipping.

Nas Hussain slipped on a set of concrete steps at the top of Ringans Lane and bumped his head, leaving him with large cut and a swollen eye.

Mr Hussain attended Borestone Primary to pick up his son, but having realised he was taking part in an after school activity, he returned home.

Moments after parking his car he lost his footing on the ice covered, untreated, steps, falling on to his hip and hitting his face on the ground.

The 43-year old was forced to go to the minor injuries unit at Stirling Community Hospital where he received six stitches to the nasty gash above his eye. Recounting the moment he sustained the injury, Mr Hussain said:“The pavement and steps had not been gritted at all.

“There is a salt bin nearby, but there is nothing in it. It was completely empty.

“At first I didn’t realise how badly I was hurt. I picked myself up and started to walk home when one of the neighbours pointed out how bad it was and I knew then that I had to go to hospital.”

The neighbours then took Mr Hussain to receive treatment to the injury.

Now recovering at home, he added:“There’s a worry now that it could be one of the young ones or an elderly person who tries to use the steps next and ends up with an injury unless they are properly gritted.”
