Hogmanay bill is boosted
More music acts for NewYear party
The latest batch of acts for Stirling’s Hogmanay celebrations have been revealed.
Stirling Castle esplanade will host the new year party and the countdown to The Bells.
With thousands of revellers expected to make their way to the Stirling landmark to take in two fireworks displays, more acts have been added to the evening’s entertainment.
‘The Voice’ winner Stevie McCrorie will be kicking off the celebrations. He will now be joined by female samba drummers Beat That and the young singer/songwriter, Matthew Gibb.
Stirling City Radio will also be out and about during the day, with the station’s resident DJ Leon Moodie joining other guests.
Gates open for the family display at 7.45pm and the event closes at 9.15pm, while gates for the main display open from 10.45pm and the event finishes at 12.15am.
The festivities will be focused on the Castle’s Esplanade which will provide views of both displays, with a ticketed, viewing area for 1,500 people.
There will also be hot food stalls and an outdoor bar at both events. Alcohol is not permitted to be brought to the event but can be purchased on site.
There will be parking restrictions and traffic management measures in place at the Top of the Town throughout Sunday December 31.
There will be no access after 7pm to the Old Town Cemetery or Ballengeich Cemetery for safety reasons, as these will be within the fireworks fallout zones.
Community planning and regeneration convenor Chris Kane said: “What a great line up we have to welcome in the New Year in Stirling. I’m particularly pleased that families and children will have the opportunity to enjoy a fireworks display before bedtime and that we’ve ensured a real local feel to the entertainment line-up.
“The midnight fireworks will herald the start of an exciting year for Stirling and surrounding communities and I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for us all.”
Tickets for the firework displays are available from stirlingwinterfestival. com until Friday December 29. Tickets for the 9pm display are £5 per person and £15 for a family ticket – 2 adults and 2 under 16s – and £6 per person for the midnight display.
