Special arrivals on Christmas Day

Happy parents welcome little bundles of joy

- Alastair McNeill

Stirling district families were overjoyed at the arrival of some special Christmas presents.

Cowie and Bannockburn families were each celebrating the gift of a baby daughter.

Indie was born to Cowie couple Lisa Gibbs and dad Richard Carroll at 4.52am on Christmas Day.

And Leah was born to Bannockburn couple Paige Duffin and Kris Ryan at 12.40pm.

Indie joins sisters Amilie (3) and one and a half year old Sophia.

Leah is little sister to Mia - who was born on New Year’s Day three years ago.

Mum Lisa, of Moray Row, Cowie said: “I was given Christmas Eve as the expected arrival date. She was a little bit late.

“I had thought I would get as far as Boxing Day, but my waters broke at 2.30am on Christmas Day. She’s the best Christmas present ever. Indie’s sisters thought Santa had brought them a new baby.

“Our Christmas was delayed slightly, but I was home at 11.30am in time for Christmas dinner.

“Everyone is very taken with her and she’s doing just fine.”

Paige – of Clark Street, Bannockburn – had also been expecting Leah to arrive on Christmas Eve. She said: “I thought the baby would arrive on the due date.

“However, I was preparing Christmas dinner in the morning when my contractions started.

“I told Kris and we were off to Forth Valley Hospital at 11am. It’s been a Christmas to remember.

“It’s quite something that Mia was born on New Year’s Day and Leah on Christmas Day.

“Mia just loves her wee sister. It’s lovely to see them together.”
