Motorists face delays as bridge work starts
Services to city centre taking 30 minutes at peak times
Motorists travelling on Glasgow Road have experienced some delays caused by the one-way closure at Kerse Road this week.
The new one-way system was put in place on Monday for east-bound traffic exiting the Craigs Roundabout while diversions have been in-place for those who travel west into the city through Springkerse.
Motorists coming into Stirling via the M80 are advised to use Glasgow Road – resulting in journey times of up to 30-minutes from the services to city centre at peak times according to some drivers.
Diversions are also in-place via the A91 and A9 Burghmuir Road – with those coming from the eastern villages likely to use Forthside or Braehead to complete their journeys.
Roads in Braehead are said to be busier than usual, but still moving, while the Springkerse and Forthside areas have also seen additional vehicles.
Stirling Council environment convener Councillor Jim Thomson says that the local authority will continue to monitor activity on affected routes and pinch points.
He said: “I know Glasgow Road is a bit busier but the feedback we’re getting is that most routes are running freely.
“We will keep an eye on it and we’ve asked our fellow councillors to give us feedback, while the officers have been out too.
“We would obviously prefer the work didn’t have to happen but we are relatively pleased with how things have been going, but we just need to keep looking at it.”
Stirling East Councillor Chris Kane added: “Traffic in Braehead is definitely busier but moving, so I’m cautiously optimistic that the mitigation measures are working in Braehead.
