Hearing helpfor students

-

Young deaf or hard of hearing people in Stirling who are planning to join further or higher education courses are being invited to use support provided by a charity’s specialist advisors.

Action on Hearing Loss Scotland’s Moving On service is asking potential students aged 16-25 who are deaf or have hearing loss to get in contact if they need more information about applying for and progressing with their studies in college or university.

The charity’s service, whose advisors are deaf aware and all sign to a high standard in British Sign Language (BSL), provide vital information about the communication support and other assistance that is available to help deaf students to get the most from their course and student life.

Action on Hearing Loss Scotland’s Sallie Tomaszewski said: “Going to college and university can be exciting, but daunting if you are not familiar with application processes or where to go for support.

“With university places filling up and applications for college courses opening soon, we look forward to helping any students who are deaf or have hearing loss from Stirling to become fully aware of the adjustments and resources that they might need to fulfil their educational potential.”
