Fayre raises £12k towards new recreational centre

-

A Blair Drummond learning disability charity has raised over £12,000 at its Christmas Fayre for a new project.

Residents, day students and staff at Camphill Blair Drummond produced handmade items throughout the year and they went on sale at their annual Advent event last month. It also included a programme of entertainment, including a performance of festive music by The Blackford Fiddlers.

Items, ranging from Christmas wreaths, glass decorations, wooden reindeer and highland cow cushions were available at Blair Drummond House.

Around 500 visitors attended the event, helping to raise cash towards funding a proposed sports and recreation centre project, which is in its very early stages.

It’s hoped the centre, to be built at the entrance of the Camphill facility, will have a multi-purpose sports area for activities such as yoga, boccia, football, basketball, badminton, table tennis, dance and a separate area specifically for gym equipment.

The cost of the proposed centre is yet to be finalised.

A spokesperson said:“Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our event and to all the volunteers who helped on the day, making it our most successful Advent Sale to date.”
