£5kbenefits fraudcase
A 73 year-old Braehead woman who claimed £5000 in housing benefit she was not entitled to has been ordered to return to court.
Mary Elliot, of Carrick Court, failed to notify Stirling Council that she had savings in excess of the prescribed limit – affecting her entitlement to the benefit – between May 27, 2013, and November 1, 2014.
The offence took place at her home address and elsewhere.
When she appeared in the dock at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday the case was continued to Wednesday, February 7 for reports.
