A thieving duo who stole almost £150 worth of handbags and jewellery from Marks and Spencer have appeared in court.

Claire Helen Walker and John Robertson targeted the Port Street shop on December 3 – making off with valuables worth £142.

Both were also appearing in the dock in connection with a number of other matters.

Just a day earlier, on December 2, Walker (32) stole coffee, deodorant and detergent from Co-op on Alva’s Stirling Street before taking meat to the value of £39 from Sainsbury’s at the Thistles.

She returned to M&S once more on December 21 to help herself to a handbag and slippers.

Robertson, of Drip Road, stole perfume from a unit at the Thistles on September 8 while acting with another, and made abusive comments to a Police Scotland phone handler on July 3.

Sentence was deferred on the 38-year-old for a drug assessment to be carried out.

Walker, of Johnstone Street in Alva, had her sentence deferred for social work reports to be compiled.

Both were ordered to return to court on February 14.
