Visit The morning started early for the Higher RMPS class, as well as for Mr Allan and Miss Miller. We were on an expedition to expand our knowledge on the Buddhism unit of the course and embark upon a goal to understand Buddhism in general more than we had already learned. The day started when we came across the nun who took us on a guided tour of the Samye Ling Monastery at Eskdalemuir. She explained to us how she came into Buddhism and converted to a nun, and how she lives her daily life, which we found out at times can be very similar to our own as she informed us about how she would be visiting her daughter in London for Christmas! As the day went on, we visited the temple. The architecture was stunning and presented a clear distinct image of the nature of Buddhism. The nun then told us more about the religion and its concepts such as meditation and enlightenment. After lunch we visited the shop where there were loads of interesting items available for purchase. One student bought a Gautama Buddha statue. There was also an array of books that were on offer as well as prayer flags and many other items. To sum it up, it was a peaceful and valuable day.
