Concert The latest in the series of concerts at St Mary’s Episcopal Church is on Sunday, January 21 at 3pm when there is an organ recital by David Hamilton, university organist at Strathclyd­e University. He teaches at the Music School of Douglas Academy and at the Royal Conservato­ire of Scotland and has performed throughout Europe and in North America, Russia and China, and is a guest professor at Shanghai Conservato­ry. The recital will explore the organ repertoire from the 17th to 21st centuries, with music from Bach, Widor and an improvisat­ion and David will be playing on the church’s restored Binns Willis organ. SWI news President Anne Artis gave a warm welcome to members and friends. The evening started with a glass of bubbles followed by a delicious supper of Cullen Skink, Scotch Broth, trifle, Cranachan and biscuits and cheese. Ruskie’s archives were on display and they brought back many happy memories. The entertainm­ent was provided by Eleanor, Anne and Alison. As Ruskie is buzzing at the moment with their cookery book, Eleanor read a recipe from a very old cookery book. Eleanor is passionate about the Scots language.
