Doune flash forward with six of the best

Opponents missed chances but visitors controlled match

Westerlands ......... 2 Doune Castle ........ 6

Doune laid the foundations for a convincing Caledonian League win with an impressive first half display.

Four goals ahead at the break, they withstood a brief Westerlands fight back midway through the second period and went on to seal an impressive win with two late goals.

They opened the scoring after seven minutes. Craig Sharp was fouled for a clear spot kick but the referee waited for any advantage to develop and Alan Inglis accepted the opportunity to shoot home from 14 yards.

Two minutes later it was 2-0. Andy Innes launched a long throw into the box, Inglis flicked the ball on and Niall McClure reacted first to direct a looping header high over the keeper into the far corner of the net.

Lukasz Duszynski scored a superb solo goal for Doune’s third in 13 minutes. He brushed aside the full back at the corner flag and skipped along the by-line, deftly cutting inside another defender before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the far corner from 10 yards.

After 31 minutes, Doune extended their lead to 4-0 with the goal of the game. McClure passed to Duszynski who latched on to the perfectly weighted pass to clip a delightful curling shot high into the postage stamp corner.

Westerlands squandered several good opportunities before making it 4-1 after 59 minutes then reduce the deficit even further with another crisp finish on 65 minutes.

Any hopes of a revival, though, were killed off with 20 minutes to go when Chris Dougherty headed home and Innes free-kick.

And there was still time for Duszynski to complete his hat-trick when Inglis cushioned a pass between the two centre backs to send the striker clear. He slipped wide of the keeper before angling a fierce drive into the opposite corner to make it 6-2. Doune Castle: S Balmer, J Balmer, More, Ferguson, Chris Dougherty, Docherty (McClymont), Innes, McClure, Sharp (Colin Dougherty), Inglis (Stewart), Duszynski. Substitutes: Gallagher, Morrison
