Tycoon Euan Snowie is facing court action, accused of conniving in the breach of environmental protection legislation.

Snowie, 49, is said to have been a director of a trucking firm now in liquidation – Ochil Services Ltd – which repeatedly breached its waste management licence at a site near the River Forth in Alloa, Clackmannanshire.

It is alleged that between February 13, 2015 and May 18, 2016, Ochil Services Ltd allowed waste, including plastics, textiles, polythene, polystyrene, insulation material, PVC window frames, waste packaging, and tree branches, to remain on site, on the Kelliebank Industrial Estate, longer than the seven days permitted by its licence.

It is also claimed permitted limits on the quantity of waste stored were exceeded, and that run-off from the site was not directed to proper drains.

At Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday, a charge under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 alleging Snowie, of Boquhan Estate, Kippen, allowed the breaches to take place by neglecting to put in place a system to prevent them, or as a result of his “consent or connivance”, was continued without plea.

Sheriff Simon Collins ordered the case should return to court on February 12.

Snowie was sequestrated at Stirling Sheriff Court in August.

Administrators later revealed one of companies, Snowie Solutions Ltd, had debts of more than £12 million.
