Workies’ bottles of urine left

Anger after work on flats

- Chris Marzella

Residents at a recently-renovated block of flats in Bannockburn were left disgusted - after discovering bottles of urine which they suspect were left by workmen.

The block in Fairgreen Place recently received improved rendering.

But residents have been left frustrated following the upgrade work as they claim that workers left behind waste material and even bottles filled with urine.

The work was carried out by electricity utility company SSE.

Resident, Gordon Millar (56), says one of his neighbours made the discovery near some bins at the block of flats.

Work to improve rendering on the building was recently completed and the scaffolding was removed.

But Mr Millar says that a neighbour made the find a

number of weeks ago.

He said: “It’s absolutely disgusting.

“I contacted SSE and they said they had provided toilet facilities nearby and that it wasn’t their guys.

“Obviously we can’t prove who it was, but I have no idea who else it would be.”

Work on one of two blocks has been completed and scaffolding now removed and Mr Millar says the block has been left a mess.

He added: “It’s been a shambles.

“All the windows are a mess.

“They are filthy. I live up high so what am I supposed to do to clean them?

“When you go out the front of the block you can see the mess they have left. The work all looks fine to me, but the place is a bomb site with piles of rubbish everywhere.

“There’s just piles of rubbish as well as equipment too.”

A spokesperson for SSE said: “Work on one of the Fairgreen Place blocks has been completed and the dismantled scaffolding is due for collection at the end of the month.

“SSE was granted permission by the council for the dismantled scaffolding to be stored on site until the collection date.

“The second block is nearly complete and the scaffolding is scheduled for collection on Monday, February 5.

“SSE apologises for any inconvenience caused during the course of these works.

“We would like to assure residents that it always endeavours to leave sites as clean and tidy as possible.”
