Tartan Weavers toast 32 years of Burns feasts

- Alastair Neill

The Tartan Weavers Burns Club celebrated 32 years of Burns Suppers on Sunday January 28 at the Tartan Arms in Bannockburn.

The night started with the haggis being piped in by Graeme Frazer and accompanied by Poosie Nancies - Ashley Clark and Chloe Flockhart.

The‘Address to a Haggis’ was provided by Gregor McInnes, who started the night’s entertainment chaired throughout by Joe Smith.

Following a fine bill of fare provided by the Tartan Arms, David Sibbald, gave the audience a thoughtprovoking and thoroughly well-researched‘Immortal Memory’to the Bard himself.

David Sibbald is well respected within the Burns community and has spoken at Burns Suppers all over the world and this knowledge shone through and was narrated with much enthusiastic animation.

Falkirk man Willie Barr provided the‘Toast to the Lasses’in his own inimitable style with zest and humour, whilst keeping the spirit of Burns love of the lassies alive.

Gregor McInnes stepped in for his second duty of the evening to provide the Recitations, which were warmly received and this was followed by comedian Joe Camay, who topped off the evening with the audience on the receiving end of his unique style of humour.

The music was provided by group‘The Jacobites’who have returned to the Burns Supper year after year.

George Dixon provided a well deserved vote of thanks, to all those involved in making the Burns Supper a very enjoyable and poignant celebration of Robert Burns.
