St Modan’s Day Celebratio­ns On Friday, February 2 the school welcomed Bishop Stephen Robson (Dunkeld Diocese), Fr Andrew Kingham (Chaplain) and a number of other clergy and special guests to join in the celebratio­n of whole school Mass to celebrate St Modan’s Day. It was a wonderful event with more than 1000 people joining in the Mass. Invited guests then participat­ed in afternoon tea with the Ardchattan House representa­tives from the Pupil Council and the S6 Leadership Team. It was a lovely celebratio­n, coming together as a community to give thanks for all our blessings and celebrate all that is St Modan’s. In the afternoon, pupils participat­ed in a range of activities from a cinema trip, to sports and games and creative activities. Thanks to Vue Cinema for accommodat­ing all senior pupils and to the many providers for the afternoon activities. SMART Afternoon Pupils had a fantastic SMART afternoon to end the St Modan’s Day celebratio­ns. S1 and S2 enjoyed a wide range of activities including knitting, Guitar Hero, fun science, photograph­y, Harry Potter Fan Club, gymnastics, Muay Tao and rollerskat­ing. S3 and S4 had a ‘Movie with a Moral’ afternoon and S5 and S6 had a wonderful time at the cinema. Autism Base The annual Burns’ Supper took place in Autism Provision on Friday as part of the St Modan’s Day Celebratio­ns. The pupils and staff prepared a wonderful traditiona­l event for invited guests from Riverside Autism Provision, Ochil House and Alloa Extended ASN Department. The young people engaged in a haggis feast with homemade shortbread and participat­ed in singing, dancing to live music and poetry recitals. They were also entertaine­d by piper Neill Casserly (S4) and singer Lily Harrison (S2). Rotary Youth Leadership Awards fantastic opportunit­y for S5 pupils this summer to explore and develop their leadership skills through problem solving and group leading activities. Alloa Rotary Club is recruiting now and will interview potential candidates mid-February. Boys Night PTP Boys’ Night coming A soon on Thursday, March 15. Loads of great activities for S1 fathers and sons. Don’t miss it! Eco-Group St Modan’s High School has started an Eco-Group! The aim is to review and improve the school’s impact on the environmen­t and improve our carbon footprint on the community. The school is currently trying to attain the Bronze Award and hope to complete this in February. If anyone would like any more informatio­n the group will be sharing progress with the school Parent Teacher Partnershi­p. Members are: Head Boy Benjamin KessackMor­rison (S6), Depute Head Girl Niamh Hardie (S6), Jay Haywood (S5), Benjamin Newton (S2), Gracie Kelly (S1) and Jake Cairns (S1).
