Defibrilla­tor and CPR training takes place on Thursday, March 1 at 7pm in Blairdrumm­ond Hall. Training will be provided by Trossachs Search and Rescue. Sunday service at 11am will be led by Val Rose, Session Clerk of Alloa Ludgate Church and Trustee of the Gate Project. All welcome there will be a retiring collection on behalf of the Gate Project at the end of the service. There will a meeting of the congregati­onal board on Tuesday, February 27 at 7pm in the session room.

The walk tomorrow (Saturday) will be around Aberfoyle. Meet in the main car park behind the former Guyana garden centre and shop ready to leave at 10am.

The Buchlyvie Guild coffee morning on February 10 was a great success. A happy gathering of people from Buchlyvie, Kippen and Gartmore raised £816, a wonderful total. The guild thanks everyone who contribute­d in any way.

At the February meeting called ‘Slowly Down the Ganges,’ Bill Keeping entertaine­d and enlightene­d members using a series of splendid photos to develop themes including transport and animals. Competitio­ns: Silk scarf -1 Marion Penman; 2 Mary Benns; 3 Anne Stewart. Home made chutney: Mary Benns.

Next meeting will be held at the Masonic Temple, Craigard Road at 7.45pm on Tuesday, February 27 when a ceremony of initiation to the First or Entered Apprentice degree will take place.

McLaren High School’s pipe band is holding a fundraisin­g Scottish Night in the school assembly hall on Friday, March 2 from 7.30-10.30pm. It will take the form of a family ceilidh with music from the Ian Milligan Trio plus music from the pipe band, trad band and other pupils. There will be a bar and raffle. Tickets £7 adults; £5 students; £20 family are available at the school reception or from band members.

Sunday all age service is at 11.15am and Time for Silence at 8pm, both in Callander Kirk. Teapot Cafe is open in the kirk hall library on Wednesdays, from 10.30am-noon. The Thursday Club is a senior citizens club who meet in Callander Kirk Hall Library every second Thursday. Next meeting is on March 1 from 2-4pm featuring table games, tea and usually an entertainm­ent of sort. New members welcome.

Good to report that Summer Ice Monday Club nights have restarted. Still room for more players (male and female) in the Reading Room at 8pm. All welcome, tuition given.
