Ginfirm winsdeal tosupply marathon

-

A Stirling booze firm will supply alcoholic drinks at eight top running events — including the Stirling Scottish Marathon.

Stirling Gin have agreed a fivefigure deal with The Great Run Company, who also stage The Great North Run, to supply their craft tipple to spectators, officials and runners.

The agreement was reached after the firm enjoyed a successful run out at Stirling’s inaugural 26.2-mile event where Team GB curlers Michael Goodfellow and Greg Drummond agreed to hand out tasters to runners crossing the finish line.

Great Run Company director Jennifer Isaac said: “We were keen to trial Stirling Gin as our after-event gin for last year’s Stirling Marathon and the feedback was universally positive and I am delighted to say that positivity was repeated recently at the Great Edinburgh Winter Run.

“Given Stirling Gin’s popularity with all and sundry we had no hesitation in reaching an agreement with the company to supply our events in 2018 on either side of the border spanning Aberdeen, Stirling and, of course The Great North Run.”

Stirling Gin, which is owned by Cameron and June McCann, is set to move into their new ‘Old Smiddy’ distillery at the top of the town this summer after a £150,000 investment.

The second Stirling Scottish Marathon will take place in the city on Sunday, April 29 with a new course having been introduced.
