Musical hero Sayer set for city show in autumn

- Albert Halls, Stirling

In a stellar career which has spanned more than four decades, British musical hero Leo Sayer has sold out venues and topped charts across the globe.

After the sell-out success of his 2015 and 2017 tours, the Grammy award winning singer-songwriter, musician and entertainer has announced a short series of concerts and festival appearances for 2018. And a special show at Stirling’s Albert Halls has been confirmed for October 12 – with tickets sure to be much sought after. The 69-year-old, who has an army of fans worldwide, is currently celebrating the recent release of his ‘The Gold Collection’ record which became his 15th top 40 album in the UK charts.

The retrospective album delves deep into his back catalogue, delivering each of his top 30 hits, including eleven top-10s and two UK number ones.

While fans of soft rock and disco may be most familiar with his music, hits such as Thunder in My Heart, Moonlighting, One Man Band, I Can’t Stop Loving You, along with transatlantic number ones When I Need You and You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, span many genres.

After starting out as a songwriter Sayer began his career as a recording artist in the 1970s with his debut album Silverbird going into the charts at number two.

However arguably the peak of his career came in 1977 when he achieved two consecutive number ones in the United States with Grammy award winning You Make Me Feel Like Dancing and ballad When I Need You.

His success continued for more than a decade with a number of top selling singles – including a cover version of Buddy Holly’s Raining in My Heart.

After disappearing from the limelight for a number of years Sayer resurfaced in 2006 when Meck’s remix of Thunder In My Heart topped the UK singles chart.

He has since made a number of television appearances, including on Celebrity Big Brother, The Muppet Show and even an episode of The Simpsons.

And after touring the world in recent years, Sayer is delighted to be back in the UK and treating his fans to high-energy performances.

With 16 hit albums and 26 top selling singles to his credit, music fans in Stirling will no doubt be keen to catch a glimpse of him in action.

Tickets for the seated show are priced at £29/£27.50 and are available from culturestirling.org.
