Concert Opus Duo - Jane Colvin (cello) and May Halyburton (double bass) - will play at St Mary’s Scottish Episcopal Church on Sunday, March 18 at 3pm. Opus Duo was formed when Jane and May joined forces. They have enjoyed discoverin­g the repertoire for cello and double bass alongside commission­ing new works from composers at home and abroad. Their performanc­es include original works and arrangemen­ts for cello and double bass in all genres. Their recital on March 18 will include works by Dragonetti, Elgar, Gounod, Keyper, Neher and Romberg. Entry by donation, suggested donation is £10. Parish Church Service on Sunday will be at the usual time of 11.15am. Due to the adverse weather conditions last week, the Service of Holy Communion and Stated Annual Meeting were postponed. These have now been reschedule­d to Sunday, March 18. Lenten Walks Unfortunat­ely the walk on Saturday was cancelled, however weather permitting the programme continues tomorrow (Saturday). Veterinary clinic The clinic is holding its annual Easter plea for donations to be handed to Bandeath Dog Shelter and Cats’ Protection League at Fishcross. Items required are beds, food, treats, toys, blankets, towels, collars, leads, combs/brishes, cat carriers, etc. Donation can be handed in during opening hours at 36 Forth Crescent or Geisher Road, Callander. Lodge Ben Ledi No 614 Next meeting will be held at the Masonic Temple Craigard Road at 7.45pm on Tuesday, March 13 when a ceremony of initiation to the first or Entered Apprentice degree will be enacted. Kirk Sunday early worship is at 10am in the kirk hall led by Gill Alexander (John 1: 43-51). Morning service is at 11.15am in Callander Kirk and teas and coffees will be available in the kirk hall after the service. Time for Silence at 8pm in Callander Kirk. The World Day of Prayer was cancelled due to the weather and there will be a retiring offering on Sunday to go to the work which this supports. Teapot Cafe is open in the kirk hall library on Wednesdays from 10.30am-noon. Thursday Club is a senior citizens club which meets in Callander Kirk Hall Library every second Thursday. The next meeting is on March 15 from 2-4pm. There are table games, tea and usually an entertainm­ent of sort. New members welcome.
