Toddlers Meet in the village hall on Thursdays, 10.30am to noon. Otago Exercise class will take place on Wednesday from 9.45-10.15am in the Church House. Cappuccino Chatter On Wednesdays from 10.30-11.30am in the Church House. Summer ice Club nights are on Monday. All players welcome to the Reading Room at 8pm. Tuition given. Jumble sale The jumble sale which is a regular event held in the Reading Room is to take place on Saturday, March 24 from 10am until noon. Lenten Walks The fourth of six Lenten walks will take place tomorrow (Saturday), weather permitting. Those interested should meet at 10am at Buchlyvie Parish Church. Dogs on leads may come. All welcome. For the fifth walk on Saturday, March 17 those interested should meet at Kippen Church, Fore Road at 10am. Church Service on Sunday at 11.15am will be led by Rev Ellen Larson Davidson. All welcome. Guild Kippen Guild’s next meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 13 at 7.30pm in Church House when Rev Mark Davidson will speak on his work as a Naval Chaplain. All men and women welcome. Guild members and friends have been invited to Viewfield Church Guild, Stirling, on Monday, March 12 at 7.30pm. Rev Gary McIntyre of St Ninians Old Parish Church will entertain. Cost including light supper £4. If interested please let Joanna McPhail 01786 870681 know by Sunday. Coffee Morning and Monetary Gift Day The Guild’s Coffee Morning and Monetary Gift Day will take place in Church House on Saturday, March 17 from 10.30am-noon. Most of the money raised is donated to Kippen Church and the Guild Projects. Community Council Members of the public may attend when the council meets in the Reading Room on Tuesday, March 13 at 7.15pm. A Stirling councillor will consult there from 6.45pm. Whist Drive All are welcome to the monthly wee whist in the Reading Room on Wednesday, March 14 at 7.30pm. A pleasant social evening with a cup of tea and a small raffle. Severe Weather Heavy snow fell from last Wednesday, closing Kippen off from surroundin­g villages for the next few days. The school did not reopen until Monday and postal serKillin vices resumed then. While the main road to Stirling did not close, there were no newspapers on Friday, nor bread and milk available. It is many years since there were such blizzard conditions and huge snow drifts in the area. Quite a bit was still left lying and not helped by snow falling again all day on Tuesday.

\Port of Menteith

Parish church Sunday worship will be at 10am and led by Dan Gunn. The Communion service, which was postponed due to bad weather, has been reschedule­d for Sunday, March 18 at 10am. All welcome. Annual litter pick Port of Menteith Village Hall committee and others are doing the annual litter pick around the village on Sunday, March 11. Meet at 10am at the village hall where gloves, bags and any other necessitie­s will be handed out. If weather proves difficult, this may be cancelled so check out the village hall Facebook page and website. Mini Makers Tuesdays in the kirkrooms, 9.30-10.30am. Art/ creative fun for 18 months-five years. Heritage society At the meeting on Wednesday, March 14 in the Village Club at 7.30pm, Murray O’Donnell will talk about the History of the Parish, with a question and answer session for a panel of past speakers to follow.

\Thornhill

Playgroup Over-twos on Tuesdays 9.45-11.45am, Fridays 9.30am- noon, term time in the community hall. Gardening society Meet on Tuesday, March 27 when George Matthews from Dunblane Developmen­t Trust will be the speaker. Bring bowls of spring bulbs to this meeting. Norrieston Church Rev Ellen Larson Davidson will lead the worship at 10am. All welcome. The Lenten Walk takes place from Buchlyvie Church tomorrow (Saturday). Please meet at 10am. Dogs are welcome on leads. SWI news The January meeting was cancelled due to bad weather and so it was an almost full turn out for February. Senga Bell, one of Thornhill’s own members, whose craft ideas and skills know no bounds demonstrat­ed examples to try at home and then all members had the chance to try their hand at glass decorating. It was an enjoyable evening and rounded off with a delicious supper. Next meeting is on Wednesday, March 21.
