Treasured Irish singer to perform solo gig
One of Ireland’s best loved singers, who once appeared on live American television in front of 60 million viewers, is coming to the city this summer.
Country and folk artist Mary Duff will perform at the Albert Halls on June 23 to the delight of audiences in Stirling.
The vocalist is perhaps best known by many for being legendary crooner Daniel O’Donnell’s singing partner for many years.
During this time she toured the world with him – with one of the highlights undoubtedly being a live performance in front of millions of viewers on TV as part of a tribute to iconic singer Jim Reeves, and a number two hit on the Billboard World Music Charts.
O’Donnell became a global star in the 1990s and he achieved his first chart hit single in the UK in 1992 with I Just Want to Dance with You – earning him a slot on Top of the Pops. He has since gone on to sell more than ten million records.
While Mary continues to perform with O’Donnell, she has also enjoyed her own solo success and her charismatic and warm performances continue to win her fans across the globe.
Her album ‘The Ultimate Collection’, a best-of record featuring 40 of her top tracks, became a best seller on these shores.
And in addition to Stirling, her new solo tour will see her visit parts of the world such as Australia, New Zealand, Sri-Lanka, the USA and Canada.
Her special guest will be Jordan Mogey who, despite being a young man, is said to have an incredibly mature singing voice.
Tickets are priced at £21 back balcony and £20 stalls, with doors at 7.30pm. For more information go to culturestirling.org.
Mary now combines solo performances and shows with Daniel O’Donnell, and she celebrated 30-years as a professional entertainer this year.
