Clean-up day Alva Community Council’s events group has organised a cemetery clean-up day on Saturday, March 17, from 1-4pm. Clackmanna­nshire Council has agreed there will be access to the former cemetery house for refreshmen­ts and use of the toilets. There are common areas of the cemetery, which will be identified beforehand, where weeding and litter picking needs to be carried out. As it is not permitted to touch any headstone that does not belong to those taking part, those with a family lair or headstone could tidy up their own area. Everyone is asked to take their own garden tools, gloves etc.

Parish Church Sunday worship takes place at 11am and will be conducted by Rev Dan Harper. Sunday school meets at the usual time. Little Lentils for pre-schoolers and their adults continues in the meeting room. Coffee will be served in the Chalmers Hall afterwards. The joint Lent study course continues tonight (Wednesday) at 7.30pm at St Saviour’s Episcopal Church. The Thursday night group meets tomorrow at 7.45pm in the session room, when Karen Somerville will give a talk on The Angels’ Share Glass story. The Guild ABM and cream tea will be held on Tuesday, March 20, at 7.30pm in the Honeyman Hall. This will be the last meeting of the session. St Saviour’s Episcopal Church services are on Sundays at 8am and 10am sung Eucharist. Creche and young church go to the church hall for stories and activities first. Coffee and tea are served in the Eucharist hall after the 10am service. On Wednesdays at 11am in the choir vestry there is a quiet, peaceful service.
