Irvine Welsh in Stirling
Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh will be signing copies of his latest book,‘Dead Men’s Trousers’, in Stirling this Saturday, March 24. The Edinburgh-born writer, who now lives in Miami, will be at Waterstones in the Thistles centre from 3pm. His new novel is described as“fast and furious, scabrously funny and weirdly moving.” It is the final novel in the Trainspotting story and sees a spectacular return of the crew from the original book. The book will be available on the day from Waterstones Stirling and, with huge interest expected, fans are being advised to arrive early for the signing. It will be on a first come, first served basis. Trainspotting, Welsh’s debut novel, has sold over a million copies in the UK alone and was adapted into an iconic film by Danny Boyle. Porno was adapted into T2: Trainspotting, a sequel that reunited the original cast and crew.
In Dead Men’s Trousers, the Trainspotting gang of Mark Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Francis Begbie are reunited 25 years on.
Fifty-nine-year-old Welsh has published eleven novels and four collections of short stories.
His novels Filth and The Acid House have also been made into films.
Trainspotting, published in 1993, tells the story of a group of characters trying to escape the boredom of their lives in an Edinburgh housing scheme in the mid 1980s.
