Little fanfare at new council HQ

First meeting is overshadowed by war

-

Stirling Town Council met for the first time in its new headquarters, the Municipal Buildings, Corn Exchange Road, exactly 100 years ago.

that had been made for the Press, adding: “The new chamber is a fine meeting place but if the eloquence of some of the bailies – and it may be added the ordinary councillors – is to descend to posterity, the newspapermen will require to be brought nearer the seats of the mighty.”

Stirling Council, in January last year, moved out of the Municipal Building which has been taken over by CodeBase as a centre for hi-tech start-ups.
