First ever Comic Con event to be held in city

- Albert Halls, Stirling

Stirling’s first-ever Comic Con event is set to take place at the Albert Halls this summer.

Comic-mania is set to sweep the city on Saturday, July 28 with a bumper day of workshops, competitions, exciting guests and quizzes. The event, which is being organised by the Big Glasgow Comic Page, will run from 11am to 5pm. There are expected to be more than 60 traders selling comics, graphic novels, crafts, art and much more. There will also be plenty of opportunities to have a picture taken with some of the exciting characters that will be in attendance.

Comic Con events have been sweeping the country of late with a host of other events taking place in Glasgow, East Kilbride and Hamilton to name a few.

Event organiser Ian Bonar, of the Big Glasgow Comic Page, says he is delighted to be bringing the comicextravaganza to Stirling for the first time.

He said: “We’re really looking forward to Stirling as it’s been requested a lot over the last two years, so I’m glad we’re finally getting the chance to bring Comic Con to a whole brand new audience.”

Tickets for the event, which is suitable for all ages, are priced at £2 and free for under-10s.

Preparations are also taking place for Loch Lomond Comic Con 2018 after last year’s debut event – again organised by the Big Glasgow Comic Page.

Attendees at the event, which is taking place on April 28, will have the chance to browse a variety of comic books, action figures, artwork and handmade crafts, while catching a glimpse of a few of their favourite characters.

And those who go to the event dressed as their favourite character will be in the running to take home the top prize at the Cosplay Competition.

This event will run from 10am to 5pm.

Previous guests at Big Glasgow Comic Page events have included Grado, Sanjeev Kohli, Monty Nero Al Ewing, David Bishop and Frank Quietly – with some top names set to be announced for Stirling.

The Big Glasgow Comic Page was initially formed, driven by social media demand, to provide a meeting place for comic book fans.
