Dancers young and old wanted to perform

- Staff reporter

Dancers aged between 14 and 21 and over 60 are being sought to join free intergenerational dance company sessions in Stirling.

Reflections Dance Company is part of the wider Generation Dance Festival run by YDance and Scottish Ballet. The first session will be held at the Macrobert Arts Centre on Sunday May 6 from 10am to 5pm; with further sessions on Sunday May 20 from 1pm to 5pm; Tuesday June 19, 5pm to 8pm; Sunday June 24, 1pm to and 5pm; Tuesday June 26, 5pm to 8pm.

Participants will work with a professional dance artist to create a dance piece to perform in the Generation Dance Festival at Tramway, Glasgow this August.

As well as Stirling, Reflections groups will also follow the sport, running in three other areas across Scotland where the championships are being held: Perth and Kinross, Edinburgh and WestDunbartonshire. Reflections is suitable for anyone with a passion for dance and a desire to perform.

Education creative director at Scottish Ballet Lorraine Jamieson said: “It will be great to work with different groups across Scotland, and then see them all come together at the Festival in Glasgow in August. We’d love to see young people take part with a grandparent or other older relative – it’s a golden opportunity for two different generations to work on a fun project together.”

Anyone interested in taking part can sign up at www.ydance. org, call the YDance office on 0141 552 7712 or just turn up on the first date.
