Getting food waste bags is a real bind

-

Dear Editor I write regarding the article in the issue of April 6, 2018, regarding the decision by Stirling Council to stop delivering food waste bags to households.

We had a perfectly good system of receiving our waste food bags by tying one on to our brown bin when a new supply was required.

I have tried this procedure several times since before Christmas with no success. I phoned Stirling Council on each occasion and received excuses:

(1) We ran out, wrap it in newspaper.

(2)We did not order enough, wrap it in newspaper.

(3)Leave your postcode and someone will deliver some to you, which did not happen.

On April 10, I tried tying the bag on to the brown bin again, and again no bags were left. On this occasion when telephoning the council, I was informed I had to collect them at the library or council office in Stirling. This is not convenient for everyone.

I had occasion to be in the library later that day and was amazed at the people waiting for the librarian to complete a list of names addresses and postcodes of people who wished to receive a roll of food waste bags.

What a time-consuming exercise for the library staff when the old simple system worked perfectly.
