Chance totrynew activities

-

Nearly two thirds of over-60s in Scotland would be keen to try a new activity, although a third are concerned that there are not enough opportunities for older people to take up activities in their area, according to research by Royal Voluntary Service, the volunteering charity.

The charity has joined with Prudential to launch First Time for Everything, a programme designed to give older people in Stirling a chance to try something new.

The initial meeting in Stirling is on Monday, April 30 at 11am at the Mayfield Centre, St Ninians when those attending will learn how to open an email and social media account and how to stay safe online.

Other activities coming up in 2018 include art and crafts, camera skills and physical activities.

Ekaterine Tsurtsumia, activity co-ordinator for the Royal Voluntary Service in Stirling, said: “We hope older people, their carers and families will come along to our First Time for Everything events where they can enjoy interesting activities, refreshments and company in a friendly environment.

Eleanor Turner, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Prudential, added: “Learning new skills are key ways we can all age well. Our programme will do just that and help get the most out of life.” Visit www.royalvoluntaryservice. org.uk/get-help.
