Riverside Athletic Under-17s faced three games in six days last week.

On Tuesday they were in RJM Cup action at Milton who took advantage of the blustery conditions to score two firs- half goals.

But after the break, top scorer Adam Sharp netted twice before Riverside lost Ryan Morrison, Callum Hutchison, Harry Thomson and Kenny Allan to injury in the space of 10 minutes.

As a result Milton grabbed the initiative and a last minute strike all but ensured their progress to the semifinals.

Days later they played host to league champions in waiting Dunblane United, and with players carrying knocks or missing it was going to be a big ask.

United took a 2-0 halftime lead but the home side rallied and pulled level through two Sharp goals only to be caught out going for the winner as Dunblane won 4-2.

In their third game, Camelon welcomed a weakened Riverside team missing eight players. Centre half Kenny Allan was forced to pick up the gloves as keeper Logan Barnes was injured and the makeshift defence of Callum Hutchison, Kerr Liddle and Matty Jackson coped admirably with the tricky Camelon forward line.

They kept the scoreline blank at the break and almost took the lead in 63 minutes when Jake Monteith’s effort slipped past the post.

Disaster struck on 85 minutes, however, when Riverside gave away a soft free kick which Camelon took advantage of to take the lead.

A penalty in the final minute sealed the points for Camelon.

Riverside Athletic move to under-19s next season and are looking for new players to add to their current squad.

The team train and play on 4G and are managed by coaches with all the necessary SYFA qualifications.
