Foodbank is game to praise local charities
Monopoly set gifts
Camphill Blair Drummond was among seven local charities to receive donations of Stirling Monopoly board games recently from local foodbank Start Up Stirling.
Start Up was voted onto a community chest square on the board last year and decided to spread their joy by asking staff members to chose a charity to donate a board to.
Camphill, which provides residential and day care activities for adults with learning disabilities, was chosen by crisis foodbank worker Dominic Farrugia. PLUS (Forth Valley) was picked by community and partnerships coordinator Laura Kearney. It provides social opportunities for children and young people across the Forth Valley who have a disability or additional support needs. Home-Start Stirling, for families and young children facing difficulties, was chosen by crisis foodbank worker Margaret-Anne Ewart and support services worker Ian Morris picked Lets Make It Better (LMiB) Sunlite Cafe which allows young people with mental health issues to get work experience in the hospitality industry. Aberlour Scotland’s Children’s Charity was chosen by warehouse manager Gerry McPeake and So Precious was chosen by project administrator Jamie Gillespie. The charity raises funds to support Neonatal, Maternity and Paediatric Services within Forth Valley NHS.Coordinator Linda Sterry, who chose Stirling and District Women’s Aid, said: “Stirling has so many amazing charities. It was tough to choose seven, but we loved the opportunity to share such a great game with such fantastic organisations.”
