Support for terminally ill
Dean Lockhart MSP is supporting a call to help improve the lives of people living with terminal illness.
Good Death Week takes place from May 14 until 20 and is an opportunity for individuals and organisations to promote the positives of living in a society where people can be open about dying, death and bereavement.
Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with a terminal illness and their families and carers.
This year Marie Curie is encouraging people to think about the care and support they would want at the end of their life and how the public can make a difference in ensuring that people can live life to the full, even when they are dying. Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP, Mr Lockhart said:“We all should take the opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the invaluable work that is performed by Marie Curie nurses, staff and volunteers on behalf of all of us who have received their assistance or will do in the future.
“We should reflect on the fact that there are challenges that Marie Curie faces going forward, not least the various barriers that certain groups in society have in accessing palliative care.
“This is particularly an issue for black, Asian and minority ethnic groups; LGBT people; and people living in the most deprived communities.”
