Dunblane disruption: ‘It’s just getting worse’

Around 30 residents whose neighbourh­ood has been plagued with antisocial behaviour problems last week voiced their concerns about the area.

A number of people living in the Royals area of Dunblane packed out a meeting of the town’s community council and spoke in detail for more than 90 minutes about the trouble they have been experienci­ng.

Residents said they were sick of the local authority housing “antisocial tenants” in the area – which takes in Charles Street, Anne Street and Edward Street among others.

They say that for years they have been experienci­ng significan­t disruption with problems relating to drinking, drug abuse, noise and confrontat­ional behaviour and want it to stop.

One person said: “This is having a significan­t impact on the lives of people living here. It’s impacting everyone’s wellbeing – night and day – and something needs to be done about it.

“We’ve been fighting this same battle for years and, if anything, it’s getting worse.”

A resident of Edward Street added: “It’s like watching the Thriller video with the drug addicts stumbling up the road. I came here in 1981 and this is bringing down the whole town.”

Parents of children told the meeting that they have found methadone prescripti­ons lying out on the street and are too afraid to let their young ones outside in the current climate.
