Clackmannanshire and Dunblane MSP Keith Brown is teaming up with Trading Standards officers to hold a drop-in surgery on nuisance calls in Bridge of Allan.

The surgery is on Monday, May 14, from 1pm to 2.30pm at the Allan Centre in Bridge of Allan, and will give people the opportunity to get advice and support on how to deal with nuisance calls and to share their experiences.

Mr Brown said: “Research from Which? shows as many as 81 per cent Scots regularly receive a nuisance call on their landline, which is why last year I attended an event in the Scottish Parliament to show my support for their campaign to put an end to such calls.

“I know nuisance calls often target the elderly and vulnerable and have the potential to be very harmful, causing anxiety and distress which is why last year, I announced an action plan on the issue, with measures including a £50,000 fund to install call-blocking technology for those most at risk from nuisance calls. A number of these devices have now been installed across the area.

“This Bridge of Allan surgery, in partnership with Trading Standards, is one of a series I will be holding in different areas of my constituency offering people the chance to get advice and support on this important issue. I look forward to seeing as many people as possible on the day – although if anyone can’t make the surgery, please contact my office.”
