Siblings success in club competitions
Brother and sister fly high at Stirling LCD
Stirling LCD Taekwon-do have made an great start to the year under the tutelage of brother and sister instructors Chris and Liz McKenna.
Nine year-old Andrew Waddell and Thomas Muir (7) were both presented with 2017 end of year overall awards after competing in a series of national club events and accumulating enough points to earn bronze and gold awards respectively.
Instructor Liz (6th Degree) and her husband - assistant instructor Dave Rankin (4th Degree) were presented with overall year-end awards for the 2017 Blackbelt League championships. Points are accumulated over the year and Liz achieved overall silver for Patterns and silver for power test - despite being pregnant from May onwards. Dave achieved overall silver for the power test.
Instructors Chris and Liz were also awarded training recognition awards for more than 20 years training in taekwon-do and Dave for more than 15 years.
Recently there was belt test success for 13 year-old Maythu Pettigrew and 14 year-old Josh Broadley who both sat and passed their 1st Degree blackbelt. Josh has been training for almost eight years and Maythu for six years an admirable achievement for anyone of this age, showing great determination and commitment by both students. Liz was one of the grading panel and was delighted with the effort and display of good techniques by both students.
Assistant instructor Dave and the club’s most senior student also sat and passed his level grading and has taken another step towards his goal of 5th Degree with promotion to 4th Degree Level 2.
Stirling LCD Taekwon-do was established in 2000 and is committed to providing the area with excellence in martial arts tuition, training hundreds of students to blackbelt level.
