Disney theme at Alva Fun Day

-

Alva will see a host of Disney characters at the town’s Fun Day on Saturday, May 26.

Organisers Alva Community Council are expecting Mickey and Minnie Mouse on a colourful musical parade along the main street to the Cochrane Park, led by the Absurdist Pipe Band.

The group hope that schoolchildren and adults will dress up as their favourite Disney character.

The A91 through Alva town centre will be closed for the duration of the Fun Day parade, which leaves at 11.45am from Brook Street, outside Alva Baptist Church.

To take part meet there at 11.30am.

The parade will amble along the A91 from the Johnstone Arms to the entrance to the Cochrane Park. Police will help with traffic control.

Attractions in the park include bouncy castles, kids’rides, a slide, juggler, face painters, tombola, refreshments, ice cream, classic cars and motorbikes, a fire engine, mountain rescue and stalls.

There will be an opportunity to Splat the Councillor as local elected members Dave Clark, Donald Balsillie and Helen Lewis have agreed to brave the stocks to help Alva Community Council raise funds. Wee County Crafters made the stocks.

There is a bollard competition where teams can dress up an Alva town centre bollard in the Disney theme with a £50 prize for the winner.

Anyone interested in having a stall or entering the competition can collect forms from Alva Library, the Higglety Pigglety shop in the town centre or from www.alvacommunitycouncil.org.uk.
