One `L’ of a lesson

-

A Fallin driver who was more than double the drink drive limit a week after passing his driving test has been banned from the road.

Daryll Ogilvie was pulled over by police after being observed in March swerving across roads and driving over a roundabout.

The 20–year old, of Colliers Road, admitted driving his Toyota Starlet in Burghmuir Road and Borestone Crescent in Stirling, after having consumed so much alcohol that he had 57 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, with the limit set at 22 micrograms.

The court heard how the incident happened on March 19. Ogilvie only ditched his ‘L’ plates on March 12.

Fiscal depute, Lindsey Brooks said: “It was around 3.10am when the accused was driving at the locus and was seen to be driving erratically, swerving into lanes without warning. He was seen to continue straight over a roundabout and again swerving over lanes. He was stopped and a smell of alcohol was detected.”

Defending, Frazer McCready told the court Ogilvie had been unaware of how much the alcohol he consumed would affect him.

Sheriff John McSherry fined Ogilvie £500 and disqualified him from driving for a year. In Association with Budget Auto Centre Back O Hill Ind Estate, Stirling FK8 1SH 01786 472211 www.budgetautocare.co.uk
