Scottish applicants with almost 3,000 votes.

Footballer José Quitongo, who had successful stints at Hearts, Kilmarnock and St Mirren, and Mark Cox who plays Tam in Still Game have shared Freya’s application along with a string of MSPs.

Freya’s neurosurgeon and medical staff who have supported her have also backed the campaign.

In recent years Freya has suffered a sting of terrifying incidents where her airways become blocked and she has had to receive emergency treatment from her parents and carers.

Carolynne, who has campaigned for better facilities for the disabled to visit more public places, said a garden she can enjoy at home would be a safer environment for her.

She said: “I am feeling Freya is very much loved and included in society by the beautiful comments people have made on the competition page, despite the fact that Freya is very rarely out and about and no one does really come in regular contact with her.

“So if anything positive comes from this it’s the winning of the garden but more importantly the fact that Freya is very much included.

“I have to say I’m sure it’s her hearty smile that really makes people love her.”

Freya is blind but she can hear. To make the garden accessible so she can lie and listen to the birds and all the different sounds would mean everything
