Locals did not want pavilion

-

I refer to the article headed ‘£650,000 pavilion scheme dropped’ (Observer, May 11) and would have to say that Dennis/Tom Jones has more names and faces than the town clock.

How dare he state that the Luti family and a small group of negative people in Callander had anything to do with him withdrawing his application?

If the Callander Community Council Facebook page was anything to go by, where there were 193 comments left by locals, the majority being against the development.

Those who commented referred to the proposed structure as an “eyesore” and “out of keeping with the local area”. The remarks suggest Mr Jones is deluded over the conclusions he has reached.

The community council submission regarding the development would have been put in with the majority opinion from the town taken in account.

Mr Jones might like to answer some of the questions that he has avoided for so long. Where is the funding coming from and who would have maintained it? Or would it have been that future Callander residents would have been left with a pig in a poke?

I would surmise these questions will never be answered. And I would imagine when you are backed into a corner it’s easier to throw the toys out the pram and blame others in an attempt to save face.

Maybe Mr Jones would like to utilise his time more productively by taking the opportunity to take up one of the posts on the community council which are advertised regularly but very rarely taken.

That would allow the ‘Callander Community Luti Council’ to be disbanded and allow two gentlemen who are well past retirement age to pass over the reins.

If he did so he would have to learn to take the rough with the smooth and publicly get behind opinions which might not mirror his own, a trait that so far he’s not been able to show.

I would invite him to come and discuss this in person. He knows where I live.
