Concert The latest in the concert series at St Mary’s Scottish Episcopal Church is on Sunday, May 20 at 3pm when there is an organ recital by Christophe­r Nickol. He gained an organ scholarshi­p to the college chapel of Royal Holloway College (University of London) and is currently the organist and music director at New Kilpatrick Parish Church. Rector Richard Grosse 01877 382887. Parish Church We will again be holding a joint service with Port of Menteith. The service will be held at the Port Kirk at 10.30am with worship being conducted by the Rev Dr Valerie Allen. The plan is to resume normal service next week so for those who can’t manage a 10.30am service, our service on the 27th will return to 11.15am. Bowling Club The Jean Campbell Triples Rose Bowl was played for on Wednesday, May 9. After a cheerful day despite the rain, the final was between two Braco teams. The winners were Dorothy Johnston (Skip) Pam Gellatly and Christine Durnan. Runners up were Pat Henderson (Skip) Barbara Scott and Joan McLaghlin. Monday night points go to Nessie, Mac, Bill, Lilian, Stewart and Billy.

SWI Balfron SWI, May 2018 meeting: Business was administer­ed swiftly with president and treasurer giving lively, positive annual reports. Thanks to Liz Hay and Irene Vickers, our welcome tellers from Drymen, voting for next year’s committee went smoothly. Thanks, too, to Fine Fettle who weren’t half on fine form. Supper was sumptuous and enjoyed by all. Awards were presented as follows: Points Winners for 2017-2018 - 1 Jan Macdonald, 2 Ellen McClymont, 3 Joan Dymond. Most Effort - 1 Gladys Farquharso­n and Sheena Marshall. Dunlop Rose Bowl for Crafted Article - Jan Macdonald. Ballindall­och Quaich - Margaret Bauld. The jolly evening ended with a raffle in aid of ACWW. Now we look forward to the Federation Triennial Show, the Drymen Show and our annual outing on Saturday, June 2 to Helensburg­h. tower and vestibule are closed to members of the congregati­on while plasterwor­k repairs and repainting are taking place. This will last for four weeks and services on Sundays will take place in the church rooms. Prayer group meeting is on Tuesday, May 22, at 7pm in the church rooms.
