Killearn return to form while games are called off

-

The latest fixtures produced no great surprises in Forth and Endrick.

Kippen called off their match with Balfron and announced that they would not be able to raise a team for any of their remaining games this season.

Deanston also called off their meeting with Gartocharn. They have cancelled all their fixtures so far but have said they intend to resume.

No decision has as yet been made about the points for the five games they have already cancelled.

The derby between Gargunnock and Thornhill was also called off which left only two games on the card.

Blanefield Thistle and Drymen United had their usual closely contested game although neither side was at full strength.

Thistle proved the stronger and just merited their win by four goals to two.

Killearn recovered from their 3-0 defeat by Gartocharn to take advantage of Aberfoyle’s up-anddown form to record their first win of the season.

They were well worth their 3-0 win and followed that up on Tuesday with another shut-out at Thornhill where a 5-0 victory propelled them to the top of the table – one point ahead of Blanefield who have two games in hand over them.

Gartocharn are on the same mark as Blanefield after their narrow win over reigning champions Balfron in an exciting encounter.

Scott Ross gave Balfron the lead midway through the first half but Gregor Mitchell tied the scores just before half-time.

Sean Edwards put Gartocharn ahead in 63 minutes and although Gartocharn were under pressure for much of the late stages, solid defence and a bit of luck kept the score unchanged.

Drymen’s Logan Park scored the first goal against Gargunnock but before the interval Ross Corry had equalised.

The second half largely favoured the visitors and a couple of goals from Daren Petrie secured the points for the Gunny.

In the remaining game Buchlyvie won their first point when they shared the goals with Aberfoyle.

There is a full programme of league matches this evening and again on Tuesday which may or may not give a hint as to how this crazy season will go.
