Top scorer mulling over new deal

-

Top scorer Darren Smith and goalkeeper Cammy Binnie are still considering contract offers to stay with Stirling Albion next season.

Further talks are also planned with Peter MacDonald, Liam Caddis and Ewan McNeil.

Manager Dave Mackay said: “I’ll speak to Darren Smith again soon and I expect to hear back from Cammy Binnie shortly as well.

“We’ll speak to Peter MacDonald, Liam Caddis and Ewan McNeil again and some of that will be linked to who else might be coming in because obviously we have a budget and we can’t really stretch it.

“We had a decent season but not a great one so we need to make money available if we want to bring in other players.”

The new season kicks off with the Betfred Cup on Saturday July 14 and the draw for the group stage will be made a week today, Friday May 25, live on BT Sport.

The club have yet to confirm any pre-season friendlies but Mackay added:“Most of the friendlies will need to be away from home due to work getting done on the pitch.

“I don’t think anything major is planned but because of the PFA Exit trials at Forthbank later this month the groundsman won’t be able to start until later than usual.

“We’ll maybe have one home friendly . We’ve had loads of interest but that’s mostly with teams wanting to come to us so we need to try and fix up a couple of games away from home.” Albion Lotto

This week’s Albion Lotto numbers are 9, 16, 24, 30. No jackpot winner so next week’s jackpot is £2,000. Four players matched three numbers to win £62.50 each. Play online at www.safclotto.co.uk.
