Prime cattle
On Thursday, May 17, Caledonian Marts sold 171 cattle comprising 96 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls and 75 cast cows.
Top price was 258p (twice) both for Limousin heifers from Faskine, Airdrie and Classlochie, Kinross to Robert Alexander Ltd, Princes Street, Port Glasgow and Hugh A Black and Sons, Port Street, Stirling and to £1685 for a Limousin from Learielaw Farm, Broxburn again to Hugh A Black and Sons.
Bullocks topped at 250p (twice) for Limousins from Balquharrage, Lennoxtown and Brockwoodlees, Canonbie to D Campbell and Son, Ancaster Square, Callander and WW Wales Ltd, Kilmarnock and to £1636 from Learielaw to WW Wales Ltd.

Also forward were 75 cast cows and bulls. OTM cattle sold to 185p for a Limousin from C Dick, Taylorton, Stirling and to £1172.90 for the same beast.
Beef cows averaged out at 151p selling to 180p for a Limousin from R Graham and Son, Airthrey Kerse, Bridge of Allan and to £1560 for a BBx from JF and MB Teague, Buteland, Balerno.
Dairy cows averaged 111p selling to 140p from P Johnston and Son, Glenrigg, Falkirk and to £1090 for the same cow.
