Riverside travelled toStenhousemuir this week to play their penultimate FVFDA League game.

The game’s first chance came in the sixth minute when Lewis Morrow tested the home keeper who was up to the task.

The home side took the lead in the 11th minute and after Jake McLean and Kobe Furzer had fine efforts, Stenny scored twice in 10 minutes.

It looked all over but Ross Gilvear shot home from 30 yards before the break to give Riverside hope.

On the resumption, Riverside came out all guns blazing and Callum Hutchinson’s piercing run led to a handball. The penalty was awarded and despatched by Morrow.

It was all square soon after when Furzer muscled his way past the home defence to score.

Stenhousemuir are an excellent side, however, and but for some fine saves by keeper Logan Barnes the game could have been out of reach for Riverside.

As it was Stenhousemuir regained the lead on 63 minutes following a slip in defence and the scoring was completed seven minutes later. Riverside acquitted themselves well with Gilvear, Furzer, McLean and the back three of Riverside doing well, but the GDWM man of the match goes to Morrow, back to his best.

Saturday sees Riverside play their final league match against Dunblane United. This is sure to be the league’s game of the day as Dunblane need a win to secure the league title.
