Service helps people with convictions back into work

-

A free employment support service for those who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law is being provided in St Ninians.

Hillview Community Centre is the location for the confidential one–to– one employability sessions held each Wednesday for people with previous or current charges or convictions.

The aim is to help them find their next step on their journey to work.

Sessions are designed to improve confidence, skills, and experience and to understand how and why potential workers need to disclose certain offences to future employers.

Delivering the service is Stirling Community Enterprise alongside Cultenhove Opportunities Partnership.

It is part of the Stirling Community Justice Partnership which involves a number of groups who work to help people find and sustain employment.

Finance comes from the Scottish Government Employability Innovation and Integration Fund.

Practical training and employability courses in landscaping and construction will now be delivered at Hillview to help people move into further training and employment.

Employability support offered to all learners includes understanding the law in relation to‘spent’ convictions, creating or updating your CV, skills and quality identification, support with application forms and preparing for interviews.
